that is absolutely an unfair representation of this group. _you_ were in
error, others responded to explain it to you, and then you responded
exclaiming that the voice of experience is wrong. you have to expect
resistance to that sort of thing.
on the other hand, this is a very forgiving group. kick back and listen to
the advice youre being given and eventually youll understand what it is that
you still seem to be missing. i live in the same town that you do. lets
get together for some wheeling, id be glad to show you first hand in real
life how a winch works and why your reasoning does not. when we're done
however, beer is on you. :-)

A better analogy is to set the front wheels against an 8-10 inch
square curb and try to drive over it with 2WD (so that the front tires
don't contribute any 'climb'). For axle deep mud, make that a 12-14
inch curb and the rationale becomes reall apparent.
