Yes, I do believe that is true. The owners manual does state "Catalytic
converters are used on all CJ modeles with V-8 engines, and on CJ
six-sylinder models built for sale only in California".

Yes, they did. I think it was 1975 that they put the insert in the top
of the fuel filler tube that prevented people from pouring in Regular
Leaded.

Then you have the steel inserts in your cast head. Do you also have
the little decal in your fuel gauge that say unleaded only, the gas tank
restrictor fill opening, and catalytic converter? That was not enforced
for '78 Utah, when I bought my Bronco.
