Re: What's this 360 worth?
California still will not allow out of state vehicles to be
registered. A quote from the California Department of Motor Vehicles:
"What should a California resident look for when buying a new vehicle
from another state? Individuals are prohibited from importing,
purchasing, or leasing a new vehicle from another state, unless the
vehicle was manufactured for sale in California, and the Environmental
Protection Agency label certifies the vehicle has California smog
equipment. California considers a new vehicle to be any vehicle with
less than 7,500 miles on the odometer at the time of purchase." From:

AFAIK all American cast iron heads for Unleaded have
induction-hardened, rather than insert, seats. If you are going to
rebuild any cast iron head or valve-in-block engine you would be
stupid not to put in an insert, rather than rely on the induction
hardening,which is very thin.
All engines with aluminum heads have inserts and they are usually
tough enough for unleaded gas or propane. All common ones are.
I'm personally glad the lead's gone. You still can get it on the
q.t.-100LL avgas contains ten times automotive amounts, add a quart

I'm glad too, that lead is not use to boost octane, it makes the
poor whom have to live near freeways stupid. But we pay big time for it,
Chevron now uses platinum. Old cars have to convert pretty quickly, as
without the lead as a lubricant the valve eats right through the head.
