Re: OT: Not Every Trucker Runs Two Logs
I read the article you posted and it said pretty much what I knew to
be the case-everyone in the TL business WANTS to sign the mythical
golden "smart businessman IC" but there are hardly none out there. We
weren't talking about what fleets wanted but what they had. While
fleets don't want to be quoted exactly they all estimate major TL van,
flatbed, and reefer operators are all between ten and twenty-five
percent IC's. That means 75% to 90% of fleet tractors are company
owned.
Considering that people who are really good business people have
other career options besides living in a truck, those numbers aren't
likely to change radically in the near future.

The way you write tells me you have no idea what a businessman is,
and certainly couldn't recognize one even in your local businesses.
After your parents die and can't support you, get a job sucking off the
government as you could never make it in the real world.

Re: OT: Not Every Trucker Runs Two Logs
I've been sand bagging this way OT bun fight and, at risk of prolonging
it, found some stats:
http://www.geocities.com/TheTropics/1608/stats.htm :
"It is estimated that owner/operators make up about 70% of the
interstate driver population". (USA)
http://www.tc.gc.ca/pol/en/report/Tr...y/Chapter9.htm :
"If just long-haul drivers are considered, about one-fifth are
owner-operators or independent truckers". (Canada)
Preeshaydit if you hands would 10-3 this thread or move it over to
channel 19.
I'm back out.
