I've got a Pure One Filter, ready to go. I've compared the inlet holes
and they are wider than the Fram Tough Guard.

With only 150 miles on it, the consistency is thin, smells like oil,
and has a slightly amber color. Since we flushed it, the oil has been
very clean.

I'll do the smell test when I go out. What smells am I looking for? I

You needn't a Jeep specialist although that would be preferable, any
competent mechanic would know that sending units are trouble prone and
rarely reliable and the VERY FIRST test is to attach a mechanical gauge. If
he was too lazy to do that then........
To make it perfectly clear...... With ANY vehicle, of ANY make, by ANY
manufacturer, ANYWHERE in the world, and in the case of NASA, (or any other
space agency), ANYWHERE in the universe if an electrical sending units is
even remotely suspected of being inaccurate the first thing you do is
temporarily install a mechanical gauge
Now.... I haven't any idea where you live but there really has to be a
competent and honest mechanic somewhere within a reasonable area, finding
that mechanic is another story.
Ask around for advise from people you trust who have limited reason to steer
you wrong. Good sources are... the church on the corner (doesn't matter
what kind of church, the religious leader there knows the neighborhood), the
firehouse on the corner (most firemen I know are fairly adept mechanically),
the corner business that delivers (they have to keep their vehicles
running), your corner pharmacist (you would be amazed at what they know
about your neighbors), your local professional auto parts store (auto Zone,
etc might do but a NAPA type place would be better, your corner post
office... this is getting to be a pretty complicated intersection....
especially from a guy who lives in a town that has the Welcome To and Now

Re: Oil Pressure Hits Zero And Stays There- JGC '96
If coolant had gotten into the oil it would look like a milkshake ....
almost exactly like a milkshake.
If you were burning coolant the exhaust would smell 'sweet' and that
sparkplug would be dramatically cleaner than the others.
If oil was in the coolant you would see globules or an oily layer,or it
would smell faintly of exhaust, or may be full of air bubbles from the
compressed gasses inside the engine or maybe the bubbles are from the
cooling system 'burping' itself if the level is low or the coolant recently
changed.

If you were burning coolant the exhaust would smell 'sweet' and that
sparkplug would be dramatically cleaner than the others.
If oil was in the coolant you would see globules or an oily layer,or it
would smell faintly of exhaust, or may be full of air bubbles from the
compressed gasses inside the engine or maybe the bubbles are from the
cooling system 'burping' itself if the level is low or the coolant recently
changed.

If coolant had gotten into the oil it would look like a milkshake ....
almost exactly like a milkshake.
