if the boot comes off anything like mine, the narrow end is going to break when you are trying to slide it off...

She sent me an email today letting me know the company was expanding this spring to various locations all over Canada, and if i wanted to stay east coast that it may be an option for me, and there is a position available in Trail BC. but because i have to be in BC to take the license they cant obligate to hire me. she wants 3 references, then if she likes what she hears and i get certified, she can offer me a full time position, but will not be able to pay for my relocation.

so i just gotta get out to BC on my own... or wait for them to expand out east...

Can't you get your security licence in NB and then just transfer it to BC? I got mine in AB and then transfered it when I first moved to Van in the mid 80's then while I was there did the PI requirements so it's good across Canada. Better than having to wait for them to make up their minds and then wait longer while your waiting for your licence to show up. Sign up with any security company and they can get the paperwork rolling for you and then when everything is done you can start calling around.

the biggest thing is im down in NC still... and might stay for the winter now... sigh...

heres a delima i've got going on, two bad seals, one pinion and the driver side seal (my bad). and i going to have to play with it and set the gap back up on this thing or just torque the pinion back down correctly like final installation since all the shims are in... i mean im just going to torque it back down to spec... not take the thing apart or reseat the bearing races... it should all be the same right...

I picked up a new boot kit (1new boot, 2 packages of grease, and 2 new clamps) for under $20.00 The old boot came off easily enough though, without any damage, but for the cost, you might as well just get new parts. As for the procedure, it's fairly simple:

1. Pull off the the wheel.
2. Remove the brake caliper and anchor assy, pads and wheel speed sensor.
3. Remove the hub bearing as an assembly by removing three 12 point 13mm bolts (Penetrating oil will be your friend here)


4. Once you get those bolts out (it might be a good idea to get new bolts for re-assembly, I didn't, but would if I were doing it again) you'll probably need a hammer with some weight to knock the hub assy loose, (a soft faced hammer would probably be better if you've got one) then pull the axle assy out.


5. Remove old boot, clean axle assy and inspect for any major wear or damage.
6. Grease the joint with half of the grease in the kit, and slide new boot over axle (grease inside of boot to prevent damage and make install easier)
7. Once boot is over CV joint, fill boot with remainder of grease. (this part gets messy)
8. Slide boot into position and install clamps.




NOTE: On some WJ's you'll need to insert axle into housing BEFORE installing clamps onto boot due to a lack of space. Check your clearance before installing clamps or you might be running out to the store for extra clamps.

9. Reinstall everything reverse order of dis-assembly.

NOTE 2: Insert beers as required.

NOTE 3: Torque Specs:

Hub Bearing Bolts - 75 ft.lbs.
Front Caliper Slide Pins - 21 to 30 ft.lbs
Front Caliper Anchor Bolts - 66 to 85 ft.lbs
Lug Nuts - 85 to 115 ft.lbs.

Thanks Craig, did you get the kit from the dealer or from some place like Lordco/ Napa? I changed out both hub assemblies a few months ago and would have liked to have done this then but never even thought someone might have a kit for it.

Looks good fireman, I probably should do that with mine instead of just letting it bounce around in the door pocket.

I ordered a 4'' IRO critical path lift today !! Im pretty excited about it...When i went to the shop here where they sell lift kit and stuff...he never heard about IRO before so i left him on that note, he called me this morning and told me he got in contact with the company and that he will start selling those lift kit from now on, he was pretty impressed with the quality\price.

Exellent Fireman, I'm sure your going to be happy with it. I love the IRO stuff, especially when the dollar is almost at par!
Couple things I would suggest is to not bother with the T/C drop (at 4" you won't/ shouldn't need it) get some quick disconnects for the front instead of the solid ones and get a rear sway bar (Addco) and you may want to get a HD steering stabalizer to, the Tenneco that IRO sells is a good one.
Last make sure everything is torqued down tight after it's back on it's wheels or else you'll get to know what death wobble is all about.
