What Did You Do To Your GC Today
Today I changed all the fluids, both diff's, tranny, oil, transfer case, and flushed the rad.
Changed the spark plugs to. Dan |
Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
was wondering when should I change tranny oil drive a lot (love my GC)

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
Should do it every 30,000 miles or 48 000 kms. I do my axles/diff's at the same time because I run through a lot of water. Cheap insurance in case anythings leaked in past the bearings.

Washed it this morning and drying off in the shop right now, get's waxed tonight since the city is dumping about 10lbs of salt per square foot right now.

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
Installed new bearings and seals in the rear axle. Loosened, anti-siezed, and re-tourqued all the bolts that will need to be removed when my long arms get here.
Am I the only person that does anything to thier GC in this forum?? Dan |

Ordered the F/R Addco sway bars, my homebrew rear swaybar just couldn't take the beating anymore.
Fort McMurray is such a rip off town, just short of 900.00 for both + shipping. Not a happy camper. On top of that it's a custom order so will get them in about 3-4 weeks. Took the Pioneer stereo system out of my Nissan and am going to put it in the WJ over the Christmas holidays, just have to make a sub box for the rear so I'm going to fiberglass one up that looks like the JL Audio box. |

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
I put a new starter in on my 02 WJ 4.7L
it is possible to do with out removing heater pipes or upper control arm. tough but I did it. the trick is to unweight the suspension so the wheels are off the ground. once un bolted then just slide it out toward the radiator (front) and give it an 1/8th of a turn and then drop the one end of the starter down to clear the upper control arm mounting bracket. |
Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
The first time I did it on my buddy's 03 I ran into the same problem with the upper control arm.
Once you figure out that lifting the body up a couple inches it makes a world of difference and makes it a lot easier. Same if you've never taken the front or rear covers off your diffs before. If you don't lift one side a couple inches there is 1 bolt on each diff that is almost impossible to get a wrench on. Even worse on WJ's at stock hieght. Dan |
