Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
Sounds like your CV is had the biscuit, close it up as best you can and try not to hammer on it to much until you can get it repaired. The locker is a stumper. The only way your going to see what's happened is to pop the cover off, maybe one of the spider gears got impacted.
You can clean the axle tube with a couple big washers, a big socket and a piece of reddy rod and scrap it out, only problem is that wwhen you do it you'll have to remove the spiders from that side.

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
I added an iPod intergration kit to the RB1 so I don't have to use that crappy FM transmitters anymore.
Now I get good sound quality and have more then enough tunes for the trail!
Not quite as good as the mopar kit, but at less then a third of the price, I can live with that...
The main difference between this kit and the Mopar one is that
-It costs less
- the song title/artist does not display on the RB1 screen,
-but you can control the iPod through either the steering wheel controls, the radio controls, or the iPod itself...
Later.

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
im wondering, can i remove my inner axles and still ride it around, im thinking yes... since the bearings are still good on the spindle...
now question, can i get my inner axle out without removal of the spindle? (Answer, NO, though ABS will not work without the outer part of the CV joints, theres nothing holding in the outer bearing)

Ohh boy... well i wasn't looking for a bent axletube thats for sure... but thats whats going on... so much for thinking its just off camber, well yea it is... because the tube is bent up... no marks on it what so ever... so i wasn't suspecting it to be bent
time to find a new dana 30 housing...
luckly im in the states and theres quite a few WJ's in the scrap yard
time to get my gas tank support along with many other things...

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
This is what happens when you run over things on the highway. :)
That really bites, hopefully you'll be able to find another one down there.
Since your looking, do an upgrade and get a high pinion Dana 30 out of a XJ/ ZJ. It'll take more torque than the reverse cut low pinion models we have in the WJ's.
*WJ LP30's have standard rotation, HP30 is reverse rotation which is stronger. Gotta have more coffee before I start typing.

Nice mod Craig, those transmitters can be a pain at times. I found a set of 100w 9004's for the factory driving lights on the weekend. Do they ever light up the road!.. I mean do they ever light up the trails! :)

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
Well I sure hope that you manage to find something soon while your down there.
Other than finally getting around to deciding if I'm keeping the 35 and beefing it up or going to go with the 44a the HP 30 will be the last major mod for the Jeep. Everything else that needs to be done are just small upgrades to be more self sufficient when out on the trail.

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
Going to be parking my WJ for awhile and concentrate on the g/f's 98 ZJ. Interior/ Exterior are mint but it's starting to have all the usual ZJ electrical problems which ought to be fun considering I hate trouble shooting electronics.
The oldest is looking at a 98 TJ and the daughter wants to go look for her own ZJ. The place is going to start looking like a used Jeep dealership soon.
I'm going to have to quit my job just to keep them all running.
