What did you do to your TJ Today?

Re: What did you do to your TJ Today?
I replaced the entire stock stereo in our '06 TJ sport.
The cost was around $550. I replaced the deck with a Pioneer CD with iPod control and the factory speakers with Infinity Reference series replacements.
The factory speakers are junk! The factory stuff sounded like an alarm clock taped to the rollbar.
Overall I am happy with the new system but I am having tremendous problems with the rear speaker pods. They are thin plastic and vibrate like crazy and make the back speakers sound funny. I installed some Dynamat on the inside on the large flat upper surface and it helped but I am seriously considering making some new speaker boxes out of MDF and trying to make them look pretty and mount them in the same location.
For any of you trying this at home: this was a major project! The deck was easy, but the speakers took a lot of messing around and adapter plates need to be made to get everything to fit properly.
Overall I am happy, at least there is some bass now.

Mounted below the doors 4" high x 2" x 4' long steel plate to protect this weak part of the jeep body. Thank goodness we finished the job in time for this past Saturday as I scratched it just under the front part, only a scratch..could have been another nice offroading beautie mark.

Re: What did you do to your TJ Today?
Talked to the police at Starbucks the other day and asked about doors off in my town. I ask before I get fined, I play smart...
IT IS ILLEGAL IN B.C. TO REMOVE DOORS, YOU WILL BE FINED.
With that said I am cheesed that I own a TJ and can't go doorless. Also being in the auto inspection field recently I ASSUME you could get a notice and order #2 for an inspection within 30 days if you got lippy with the cop.
So, doors stay on I guess unless I want to try to go into the gray area and get some tube frame doors and bolt my mirrors to them?
BUMMER!

Your right, but as with anything the goverment get's involved in there are "legal" ways around it. Heres a copy of the regulation. Some manufacturers of tube doors and half doors are getting approval for their products as this is becoming more common all over north american. When I lived out there in the 80's all you needed to do wass make sure your side ms were in place and you were good.

Re: What did you do to your TJ Today?
Just a little update: Energy Suspension makes really good bushings BUT their motor mount bushings do NOT come with new mounts for the TJ/Cherokee, they make you hack off the old rubber from the metal bases, grind about 1/4" to 1/2" off rubber off with a wire wheel and reuse the clamshells which don't exactly fit the new bushings, pretty sketch if you ask me. My advice to anyone else doing this in a TJ or Cherokee, get the Currie,M.O.R.E or Prothane polyurethane bushings that DO come with the mounts. And if your dead set on the Energy Susp ones make sure you have: Bench Grinder w Wire Wheel,Sawzall or band saw, bench vice or it will be a much longer ordeal than it already is.
