What did you do to your TJ Today?

Re: What did you do to your TJ Today?
Easter Sunday, my rear window (hard top) broke in a ga-zillion pieces (I screwed it back on too tight after scrubbing and repainting the window hinges) :( so... today, I'm making calls for the best price to get a new one in. Ugh!

If you manage to find one, remember that the nut that attaches the lift gate hinge to the glass only needs to be tightened to 53 in. lb. torque. You should get a torque wrench for those delicate jobs.

Good luck with that, glass alone might be hard to find at a good price. Don't forget to look for a damaged hard top with good glass. Could be a cheaper option.

The glass shops I called this morning had great prices. Apple Auto Glass were the cheapest; they'll install everything for 455 +tx. I think that's a pretty good price.
I just came back from the Stealership and the window alone, they sell for ~415$ Yikes.
I think I'll let the pros finish the job for me this time

I run maxxis big horns and am happy with these, in both mud and wet rocks..also found then very good in pouring rain on the highway. They suck like most mud tires on hard packed snow. They are a 6 ply tire so a little heavier, but were very easy to balance.

Booked rear window install for Friday ... 552 +tx... then if I have time, I might drive up to Smiths Falls to get my soft top
Also thinking of ordering a set of Skyjacker Hydros to replace my Pre-Runners.... and a Skyjacker SS while I'm at it.

Installing cross drilled and slotted rotors tomorrow along with my Stainless steel Rubicon Express front brake lines I've had in my garage for god knows how long waiting for the rubber hoses to crack. Guess I'll do the front pads while I'm at it.

Re: Slurp!
I was trying to figure out why the 4.0L is such a gas sucking pig.
It seems that the inline configuration with a manual 6spd tranny and the fact it is a small, relatively light truck should be a fuel efficient combo, but she drinks fuel with the big boys. I think my work truck, which is an '04 crew cab chev 2500 2WD with a 6.0l/auto, gets better MPG on the highway. And there is a lot more truck there.
Anybody notice any mileage gains with a cat-back exhaust system?? I am dreaming about a magnaflow system.
I am not too concerned, I won't trade it off because of mileage, the fun factor is solid, but just the principle of it seems to defy logic.
Living in BC I am very happy that I can pass everything on the steep highway grades with no effort, usually in 6th.
Anyway that's what I did to my TJ today, I had a profound thought.
Tomorrow I go wheeling and leave a nice fat carbon footprint. Then maybe I'll get on my 600cc Katana that gets 30mpg and roast some more ozone layer. My vibe used to get better mileage than the bike and the jeep put together, or at least close.
