On the weekend, I decided to remove as much rust on the under side of the jeep as possible with a wire brush and electric drill. Then proceeded to undercoat the fender areas with a rock guard spray then worked my way to the rest of the jeep with rust paint to give it abit more protection as needed. Still debating on bringing it to a garage that does Krown undercoating just to be thorough... I guess when it comes to rust, prevention is the best medicine!

Repaired the passenger fender on my TJ today with a friend. Norm for a TJ there's a plate under the fender insulated with a nice piece of sponge, which hold moisture so it can rust though. Not one of the brightest idea's from JEEP, but practical if its a military JEEP and you must have a flag mounted on that side.

Last spring I ended up bring my jeep to a local body man and he was able to fix the rust that accumulated prior to buying my jeep year. I thought it was surface rust when I first inspected and had done some cosmetic body work (which didn't scare me when I bought it) but during winter I had a closed look again and it was going right thru!! Anyhow, 400$ later in the spring, they were patched up and fixed right. If they go again, I plan on metal cloaks or something like that and simply get rid of these rust offenders!! lol

Here's a few before and after shots. The worse side was the drivers.

Very nice job - but $400. is expensive. For me it was a patch up job but for the person doing most of the work, well he's got idea's and starts something and its always much better then I would ever have done it and its lasts.(its more solid now then original). Next project is the windshield frame. I'd suggest you look at urs if its 2003 or older under the windshield and inside just below the window.. you might find it holy. Another grand for a complete new ww/painted/glass/installed.

Changed the speedometer gear at the transfer case today. 33" with 4.11 gears makes the speedometer run faster than the vehicle is actually moving. Put in a # 35 gear right on now.

That sounds complicated, did you have to pull the t/case apart?

Sorry took so long to reply, didn't check back in here as normally no one asks a question will watch that from now on. No didn't just 1 screw off the back of the TC snaps out and snaps in very simple procedure

Changed my tail lights to L E D "Pilot" (under $200.) these were the best price, also have a ballast bulb inside to prevent your flasher from running rapid. I don't know what the other brands have weather or not they have a built in resistor or not to prevent the extra expense of a new electronic flasher unit. The longest time took to fish out the connector hidden between the rear walls of the jeep the right side we never found so just spliced the wiring.

In case anyone else is going to change their rears to led. If you remove both tail lights and then try to figure out which wire is which you will get weird results due to lights being grounded through the case. To save you having to go through this procedure the wire colours are as follows,

black with yellow is running lights.
pink with black is reverse lights.
green with red is left stop and turn.
brown with red is right stop and turn.

Ground is through the case, they will not work until you bolt them back on.

Installed new headlights w/premium halogen bulbs. Wow !! are they bright and all DOT & SAE approved. Bulbs and light assembly connect right to stock system all for under $100.
