Matt, I would have release the brakes enough to rotate the tire to a
part of it that was not filled with packed snow and stopped and/or then
put it in reverse and backed down under compression, just like you drove
down the same hill, going home.

All i know is i didnt have the luxury of any ruts in the road,
only one, at 3 feet deep, the ditch, i knew i was screwed when i began
sliding backwards and sideways, and just got it into the ditch,
had i of had a winch, i woulda winched down like i was advised,
i didnt, so i drove the ditch,
,
and lukily im here,
i wont be going up again till spring,
