The 4.7HO is listed as being able to run on the cheap stuff as well as
on premium. The engine changes the way it burns the fuel to compensate
for the higher or lower octane.

I was referring to the 1999 - 2004 Overland models, they are
supposedly premium only. Haven't checked on the 2005 and later.

BTW, any modern engine will compensate for lower octane, the knock
sensor just retards the spark resulting in less power and less economy.
It's not a good idea if premium is available.

So was I. The 4.7 was only used on 1999-2004 WJs. The HO was
not widely used until the 2002 model year. There are a handful
of 2001s with the HO but they were research cars.
