I noticed the 4.7 V8 has a high performance version that #requires premium and I'd sure be avoiding that model. I'd like the #extra performance but I'm too cheap to pay for it. ;-) The 4.7HO is listed as being able to run on the cheap stuff as well as on premium. The engine changes the way it burns the fuel to compensate for the higher or lower octane. /herb |

I was referring to the 1999 - 2004 Overland models, they are supposedly premium only. Haven't checked on the 2005 and later. > The engine changes the way it burns the fuel to compensate for the > higher or lower octane. BTW, any modern engine will compensate for lower octane, the knock sensor just retards the spark resulting in less power and less economy. It's not a good idea if premium is available. -- XS11E, Killing all posts from Google Groups The Usenet Improvement Project: http://improve-usenet.org |

There are a handful of 2001s with the HO but they were research cars. #> The engine changes the way it burns the fuel to compensate for the #> higher or lower octane. # #BTW, any modern engine will compensate for lower octane, the knock #sensor just retards the spark resulting in less power and less economy. #It's not a good idea if premium is available. http://www.wjjeeps.com/ho_engine.htm http://www.wjjeeps.com/engine.htm /herb |
