Re: Old Jeep drivers beware!
I haven't heard of it in newer than forty year old diesel trucks,
but the used to have run-a-ways. Where the engine would begin to suck
the oil past the rings. The reason why we never parked them in gear.

Re: Old Jeep drivers beware!
This one started up on the flat bed truck, and drove right into the garage.
The tractor operator had rolled it down two or three terraces, after which
they tried to pull start it with a JD 350 Crawler Loader. One would think,
that seeing one wheel going forwards, while the other went backwards, would
have made them stop, but these boys were persistent. One of the crew told
me later, that they had been determined to "break her loose" come Hell or
high water, and they did.
Next time you eat an apple, remember. A lot went into it.

Re: Old Jeep drivers beware!
Hi Earle,
Did they try pulling it backwards in a top gear first? Also on the
older diesels there was an ether port per cylinder that they could have
bleed the oil off.

Re: Old Jeep drivers beware!
The lifters I have installed and currently have in my 258 aren't flat
topped. They have a definite dimple in them that holds the pushrod in
place.
