Really? Wow. I'm sure a lot of people are harder on U-joints than I am,
but I've never seen caps cracked that badly. Also, I don't see any
needle bearings in your cups. Usually those disappear from lack of grease.

That almost seems like an angle jam to me.
Maybe it went too steep an angle when the wheel articulated?

The vibes only started late last week, and I hadn't articulated anything for
a couple of months before that. The vibes were actually slightly worse on
the way up Sunday, seemed to be a little better on the way back. Go figure.
Perhaps loose needles and chunks of cap were binding it earlier and got spat
out while 'froading.
