Looks to me like it was never greased, so you probably have a blockage.
When you pump grease in there, you can see it oozing from the caps when
it's full. Looks like you might have had a defective U-joint from the
get-go. I'd sent those pics to Tom and see what he has to say.

Re: Got CJ7 fixed, anyone want to bush run in Ontario Ca. for a coupledays?
Aw heck, I'm not going to bother Tom Wood's about a u-joint I've already
replaced, since he went through the hassle of shipping me three different
shafts at no extra charge. The first one was for the wrong application (had
a flange instead of a yoke), and the second one was too short.
Besides, I've already chucked the bad joint.

Re: Got CJ7 fixed, anyone want to bush run in Ontario Ca. for a coupledays?
I would contact him about if for nothing else, insight. Though we've never
seen it before maybe he has and can say definitively "your problem is....".
It might save you some band-aids.

Re: Got CJ7 fixed, anyone want to bush run in Ontario Ca. for acoupledays?
Much as I hate to say I agree with Brian, I'd do the same. ;)
I'm just suggesting that you email him the pic and get his opinion on
it. He's very been helpful to me in the past and especially since you're
not trying to "get" anything out of it, just trying to determine what
might have happened. He may have a whole batch of bad u-joints to get
rid of, so I don't get one. :)
