I don't understand how the bearing could be in the end of the crank. The new
bearing supplied with my kit seems to be an exact match of the bearing that
is in the flywheel. I currently have the flywheel removed, and it was
machined.
Thanks to all for the help so far.

Re: Flywheel removal
in most vehicles, there is a hole in the middle of the flywheel, where it
mates up to the crankshaft, and bolts on. This is usually where you will
find the pilot bearing, in the rear of the crankshaft. Your flywheel may not
have a hole in it for the crankshaft. I have never seen one like that, but
it is possible. It sounds like it just bolts up to the crankshaft, and has a
recession for the pilot bearing. On my 89, I'm not sure how it is....I took
it to Central 4x4 in Kent, and had them do the clutch for me. Best $900.00 I
ever spent. I'd say, if your old one was in the flywheel, thats where it's
supposed to go........
