That agrees with what other sources say, that the V8 went away after 1981.
I also noticed, though, that the I6 258 Hp rating went _up_, from 100 to
115 around 1982. What did they do different?

They went 2 bbl carb and emissions computer. Kill the computer and
likely add another 25 hp with the 2 bbl like you can do on the older
ones.
It feels like 25% anyway...

likely add another 25 hp with the 2 bbl like you can do on the older
ones.

Well, Bill nailed it. The 360 was an option in the CJ5's. If stock,
the 7th place on the VIN will be a P.
