Re: ARB Rear Bumper/Tyre Carrier - Jeep Wrangler
There is definitely more to it than just the vehicle weight - the
Commanche pickup was rated at something like 2000# with a manual tranny and 4.0 L engine, regardless of rear end. The same body with the D44 and manual had the same limit, but substituting an auto tranny brought you up to a 5000# limit. Now, I grant you that the 4.0 with a 3.07 differential ratio behind a manual transmission is not my idea of a fun thing to tow 5000# with but that much of a difference in what it is rated to tow is a bit suspicious. Put it in 4-LO and you could pull your house. On Sat, 7 Oct 2006 08:57:11 UTC "billy ray" <billy_ray@SPAMfuse.net> wrote: > The d44 doesn't change the wheelbase. Re: ARB Rear Bumper/Tyre Carrier - Jeep Wrangler
I recently towed a 22ft trailer with a 2 ton 1954 Mercedes on it with my
Wagoneer - absolutely no problems @ 6000lb and possibly 1000lb over the rated limit (I don't know if I had the "towing package"). So the Wagoneer has the same capacity as ... the Liberty ? Not in the real world, methinks. Re: ARB Rear Bumper/Tyre Carrier - Jeep Wrangler
I have tried local shops, but the problem is that Wranglers (rather Jeeps)
are a novelty truck here so not everybody is keen about the idea (but are willing to charge an arm and a leg). I have a few photos and can probably get the measurements as well. But would the shop give a rating on the towing hitch? I don't want to anger my insurance and local authorities (the truck is still very valuable to me, being a 01). Thanks TW --------- "billy ray" <billy_ray@SPAMfuse.net> wrote in message news:f335$4526eaae$422afc51$12881@FUSE.NET... Go over to their showroom with a digital camera and a tape measure.
