Re: 95' GC Laredo - Odd Power/Start Problem
Hi Lon,
That couldn't be the original design. Look at the gauge of that
cable all manufacturers would want it to go directly to grounding the
starter, the shorter the better. Your Kraut car with it's positive
ground would look misleading. I see the WJ is kind of misleading, too as
it runs two battery cables per terminal, one goes to the fender.

The main ground from the battery doesn't go to the engine. This is the
large number 4 wire tied right to the battery negative post.
I never did find a mesh strap across an engine mount when chasing an odd
ball issue recently. Something tells me there has to be one, it is
definitely not on the passenger side where you'd expect it to be.
Kept meaning to ask the tech, forgot.
None illustrated in the FSM, but it isn't overly illustrative on
grounding points.

Checked it against two other ZJ's of same year, including the service
manager's.
Aware that there is likely a big ground somewhere, but as noted, the big
black cable from the battery negative is very short and goes straight to
the inner fender on the passengers side. This is specifically on the
I-6, your mileage may vary.
