You do really think that Kaiser would use a wiring grommet to bolt
an extra resistor for any reason, do you?

Re: '70 Renegade Help
Bill,
The factory parts manual shows an engine wiring harness specifically for the
Renegade, which is different than other CJ models with a V6 engine. I'm
assuming that the difference is attributed to the mystery electrical part.
In other words, the wiring on the '70 Renegade is the same as the diagram
shown in your link except for the addition of the mystery part. Yes, I
believe Kaiser did use the wiring grommet to bolt on an extra resistor. If
it was only on one Renegade, I might agree with your assertion but the same
setup was found on two others.

Here is a related question: In general, what were the other differences
between the Renegade and the standard '70 V-6 CJ? My reason for asking
is my '70 CJ V-6 has been repainted *at least* once so any trim
associated with the renegade model would be long gone. It has a steel
hardtop with full doors, but I have no idea whether those were original
and interestingly enough, the fenders are the earlier style without any
side marker lights (I thought the fender mounted side markers were
standard by then). The side markers are on the hood of all places.
That may or may not be the original hood/fenders.
The reason I am curious is because if it were a special model or edition
like that it might affect my plans for the Jeep. I would be way more
likely to restore it to its original configuration than if it were just
a standard dime-a-dozen CJ-5.
