It's your coil resistor ballast:

As mentioned in the email, it's not the ballast resistor for the ignition.
That's to the left on the firewall (not shown in picture) . It seems to be
unique with the Renegade in 1970. I've seen it on two other 1970 Renegades
but never on a plain 1970 CJ5. As a possible hint, Renegades came with an
amp gauge. Could this have something to do with it?
