Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
It started out with a howling that sounded like a noisy wheel bearing so decided heck with it I'll change the left one (could feel a little play but not tell exactly from where). Freaking thing had rusted in place of course so took a while to get off. pulled the calliper assembly apart and one of the slide pins broke inside the bracket, shoot, another job I didn't want to do. found a little play in the tre so changed that and could still feel something moving, dog gonnit, lower ball joint. Checked upper joint and that was also not within spec. Ran out of time so will continue today, this thing is testing my patience.

Continuing from yesterday. Four bl@@#y hours to remove two ball joints, what the heck did they press the darned things in with? Picked up the new parts and believe it or not the bottom one is the wrong one, shoot, another day wasted. The oddyse will continue tomorrow if the parts turn up.

Well the ball joint turned up so could finally get the left side back together. Took it for a test drive and still growling so ripped the other side apart and changed the bearing, no joints to change on that side thank goodness. Got it back together and went for a test drive, all quiet on the western front. I still have to check the steering alignment but that will have to wait till tomorrow or later. Woo Hoo, mobile again.

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
I have a WJ again!!!
$3000 for a 03 Overland with 180,000km
Why so cheap? It was brought in as a trade in... Was apparently running great when they tested it... Dealership gave them over $6k on the trade... Few days later when they started it up it was "running rough" and had a check engine light on...
Did the key trick and googled the codes and it was ignition coils... Running on 5 cylinders... Popped the hood (crap a strut has gone bad) and just pressed the coil connectors back in... Voila... Runs like a champ
The idiot put a cold air intake on it with one of those mesh "Off Road Race" filters.... So my intake was BROWN intake manifold will have to be removed and cleaned... As well as the intake ports on the heads... And I will have to replace the transmission pan which is seeping thru... Which is already on its way...
It drives soo good... Oh how I've missed it
