What Did You Do To Your GC Today

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
Hiya 04,
I usually just use alcohol on a cotton swab (Q-Tips, for example) to rub both the printed circuit contacts and the "carbon?" pad that actually MAKES the circuit when pressed onto the printed circuit board. I have in the past used contact cleaner (availble at an electronics store) with a bit of agitation by a cotton swab.
I agree that an eraser WILL do the job but my contacts did not appear to be oxidised so I thought I'd try the gentle approach first and I did get a bit of dirt off. I may go in with a more aggressive approach (eraser) tonight.
When I repaired my heater speed switch on my '94 Cherokee I used #600 emery paper. I had to dissasemble the whole switch because it jammed up (one of the contacts had bent-I straightened it up and reassembled the switch after cleaning the contacts as above). I also use #600 when cleaning up motor armatures BUT emery is conductive so you have to clean the piece off well before assembly.
Peter.

Most of the time if I have to clean things like the contacts on the key fob it's because I've forgotten to take my keys out of my pockets and the gasses that can be present at work (H2S, SO2) put a black film on metals that alcohol won't take off. It would be much easier if it would.

265/75-16's are going to rub pretty good if you don't have a lift. Most guy's won't go that size until their around 3.5-4" of lift.
I just lucked out last night, my buddy's wife just started working at Kal Tire so she told me to call her before I bought my new tires this spring. 45% employee discount!!

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
WJ's are funny that way, when I had my 02 a buddy of mine liked it so much he went and got one. Both were base Laredo's, everything was the same including the suspension but mine sat 1.5" higher than his. No UC springs both were standard springs. But I've heard from lot's of people that say the same thing, 1 person put's on a certain size of tire and no rubbing and the next guy is tearing out the wheel well liner. Go figure...

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
haha... like any good jeeper, i mcguivered away to get it off and back on haha...
the pontiac jack was too small to even lift the axle securely... (it had that awkward notch instead of any sort of a grove or flat surface...
So i dissaembled my jack, bent away the part that broke and set it directly on the corkscrew bit going thru the middle... what a pain to jack up... but it got the job done... now i've got to sort out a new jack that will perform well on and off road muhahaha...
but i took her down to the carwash and gave her some TLC from the abuse its had driving to Ontario, then out to NB... its already grabbing some attention from some of my roomies female friends... i took them all out for a little spin... one of them wants one... and wants exhaust on it cause it sounds soo much better HAHA...
roomies co-worker likes the GC more than her boyfriends Wrangler HAHA
and he's got a hell of a wrangler too

Good to hear you managed to get it all worked out Crazy, I like taking people out in the Jeep if they've never done any offroading before.
Hey ssnipes, I haven't done it but I know that some guy's ditch the WJ washer bottle and put in one from a ZJ, more of a rectangular one. There a little smaller than the WJ but it seems to work for them.
