Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
means that person wasn't man enough to put in some wrench time on his own rig :-p
im always going to give him hell about that lol
turns out the XJ is 2wd, but considering what all im planning for it (and being in the states still) it'll do just fine as i track down all the driveline mods i want done to it, its going to be a hell of a rig when i get done with it :-D

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
Hi guys,
I'm back. If I would have know that letting the ticker have a day off would be this much work I never would have let it.
So what's happening with the new project Mike, any updates?
Like Craig I see the words but I'm not understanding them... "Not Built"... I'm trying but it's just not registering.

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
still trying to track down a jeep, homie needs his XJ for a few more weeks until he's deployed in the army, he got kicked out of his sisters house so he doesn't have another vehicle for transportation...
but yeah i was actually thinking of calling up my buddy i sold my old XJ to, and see if he was looking to unload it for a few sheckles, it would be nice to build a hell of a rig from the one that started it all...
im just sitting on my insurance money, and my paychecks getting ready to be broke in a matter of hours, then busy on the weekend for months to come!

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
Well hopefully you'll have something soon. Sucks being Jeepless with spring just around the corner.
May have an oppritunity to pick up a Scrambler soon. Just have to see what kind of a price he wants for it. The daughter took one look at it and fell in love with it.
I'm guessing that when I get around to taking the bumper off the Jeep your not going to need a template now...
Actually, Í'll do it anyways just in case you show your former good taste and end up with another WJ. :)

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
I REALLY want another WJ, but i just cant see it happening, so get this... a little dealer across the street from the shop has a Wrangler Rubicon on the lot, bardtop and soft top, -100k miles $15,000, i go over and start talking to the guy next thing i know he's telling me how my mom was thinking about picking it up, trading in the Excursion for the rubi even trade... WHAT
i told her id be pissed if she did that and i still didn't have a jeep, but i really want her to get it, so i can convince her to let me take it out for a spin once in a while haha
but im thinking i might pick up a couple XJ's one to drive while i wrench on the other, then to wrench on to keep up with the badass one

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
The 2 XJ's would be a great idea! I'd love to do a bunch more stuff on the G/F's WJ b ut she thinks it's going to start looking to redneck for her. Oh Well, I'll just have to find more things to do to the DD.

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
im thinking i might just end up picking up homies 2wd, and converting that over to 4wd with all the ridiculous bulletproof components, its the complete bottom line base model, with the tow kit... i just wish i could stuff in my Ford 460... i think it will be way too tight without extending the wheelbase...
needless to say the XJ is going to be FAR from stock when im done with it

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
picking up a 242J transfercase, shift bezel, and hvac controller and other dash parts. main thing is I will eventually give my GC WJ a treat to be a better DD with that 242. doing the SYE and double cardon rear drive shaft. (just getting another front drive shaft and perhaps a spare driveshaft to replace on the trail). Winter will be fun again. dont like the 249 case really.
anyone need a 249 case? works well... just not my cup of tee. I want more control as to when I have 4x4 or not.

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
picked up a Black 93 ZJ Today... 4.0L with 220K miles, NP249 (which i promptly tested!)
body in EXCELLENT condition, leather and electronics all in great shape! (other than front bumper ding) this jeep was used, but not abused. $800.
but its not bad runs awesome, had some head work not too long ago, very smooth running valvetrain (quieter than my 04!) the brakes need work, suspension is nice and firm... a great deal for sure...

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
i guess i didn't post my last message...
so i was giving the jeep some love... and i can already tell its going to be a fun jeep... so i check it out, and i've got a broken CV joint on the passenger side, not so bad i've got a spare driver side, break out the snap ring pliers and a new boot, were in business... swapped out what i imagine is the original diff fluid, man this stuff was just like water, disgusting... anywho i put in my new battery, put on my 63mm throttle body from my WJ, and change the oil...
i fire it up and man the thing is screaming at me, check engine light is on, and the tach isn't registering and its running rough... thinking to myself great what did i do... so i start going thru all the plugs and sensors making sure its all hooked up and nothings loose, the little jumper hose going to the MAP sensor broke, fixed it with a small straw and some tape... but still nothing on the tach... i mean i check EVERYTHING... get frustrated, smack the dash... and voila... 750 RPM hahaha always a good sign
now it runs real smooth...
but i've still got to swap plugs (BLACK, no oil residue) and wires... clean out some old carbon with some Seafoam, (already put some in the oil before the change to get out some of the gunk!) i've got to replace the power steering return hose... and i might need a new caliper on the drivers side... ugh
but i havn't put that much money into it yet... so im decently happy with the ZJ so far... ready to get it out on a trail and get my money's worth out of it
