What Did You Do To Your GC Today

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
No worries dan, i can be patient sometimes lol
so today was diagnosing the crazy thunk noise i would get when i hit a bump or and take turns, i thought it was in the R&P, but after rocking my jeep getting the tire on top i noticed it was coming from the sway bar, and well when i put it all back together i put the bolts into it wrong... so i fixed it and no more thunk... so im finally putting the front driveshaft back in since i the R&P should be fine...
now it was a bitch to take off, mind you it had never been off before, but putting it back on just wasn't happening...
whoever put the driveshaft on, left the protective covering over the splines and must have hammered the thing on... i mean i just cant get the thing off...
so out comes the torch to melt it all down (i've used a razorblade to cut it down this far, torch to just melt it down so i can scrape it off with a screwdriver, not burn it off)

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
The first time I took the front DS off the 247 I had it all disconnected and I'm pullin and pushin and the bloody thing isn't even twitching...at this point I'm thinking it's BFH time and then I get this brilliant idea. I put the T/C in neutral and all I hear from underneath the Jeep is CLUNK... various adjectives were said quite loudly.
Here's some teaser's, didn't even have time to wash the Jeep before I put it on so when I mount up the winch I'll wash it and post some bumper on, off and winch in place.

2500kms, 2 blizzards, 1 ice storm, and 235kms on the world's largest skating rink later. Just got off the highway and unfortunately the ice doesn't really show up to well. It's about 1/4" thick on most of the Jeep.

Nice Lookin' Bumper...how are you liking it so far?
And what have you done about the inner fenders? I've trimmed mine, but part of the washer fluid reservoir is exposed, and I lost all of my washer juice on the trail the other day. Luckily there were enough puddles to keep my windshield clean enough to see through....
As for some ice...here's what I ran into (or through actually) on Sunday...
Buddy I was with put his smoke pack down to reference how thick the ice was:

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
Hi Craig Happy New Year,
Looks like a fun run. Not sure if the bottles are shaped exactly the same but I had to cut the bottom bracket off the bottle for the bumper to slid over it. So it is protected to a degree.
Took almost a foot of the rubber liner off when I trimmed the inner. Left a couple tabs so I can rivet it into place and keep the majority of gunk out of the engine compartment. My biggest complaint is when I got into the snow and ice storms I popped the hood and found that the entire bottom of my K&N was a lump of mud and ice and I had ice and snow packed all along the top of the drivers wheelwell to the firewall where all the electrical is. Need to come up with a fix for that right away.
The lights have no adjustment at all so not thrilled about that. They're floodlights in a tube so the stock fogs lit the road up better but I'm going to see if I can find a set of spots and trim the holes a bit.
Mounting the winch this weekend so I'll have better pics up after that.

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
Looks like i might have to put a new battery in mine, cranked right up this morning, got to the office and turned it over to head to the store for Red Bull, and got nothing... go to leave the office, Jumpers in hand, it hesitated, but turned over...
alternator is charging just fine the battery just isn't holding any amps anymore (i had to add some Electrolite to it a while back so i wasn't expecting it to last forever, just for a few more weeks)

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
Been talking to Kevin and Bryant at KOR and finally got a "definate" answer on a few things.
Yes, and yes, and yes...to all three. LOL. We have three things for the WJ we're working on...the rad support, the t-case skid, and a Clayton Long Arm belly pan. The rad support has been giving us trouble...we've had to re-do it a few times, and we THINK we're on the home stretch. Getting a stock-ish WJ in the shop has been a challenge for us...most everyone already has bumpers and such, and we want to make sure that it fits first with the stock bumper, and then with the aftermarket bumpers too.
So, yes, you'll be waiting a while longer, and yes, you're going to see it sooner rather than later.
Thanks for being patient...this stuff is tougher than it looks to be at first glance sometimes.
Have a great weekend, Dan!

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today
Been talking to Bryant about the rad support and a hybrid x-member/ TC skid (full width) for about a year now.
The new belly pan was pretty much what I was looking for all though it's a little longer than what I had in mind. Unfortunately it looks like the pan is only going to work if your 6+" and on long arms. So my IRO skid will probably get lots of abuse.
Once it warms up I'm going to see how I can modify the x-member so it doesn't stick down so low. Maybe flip the channel and put a HD heim joint into it.
