It may be worth noting that if it's a mandrel bent 2.75 that retains a constant I.D. will be just as good (if not better) than a 3" that is cheaply bent with kinks and reduced ID as in a factory exhaust system.

You can see the cheaper type of bend in this image:

Compared to a better mandrel bend here:

Also, if your guy doesn't have the proper equip to make a nice bend on 3" pipe, it is still possible using sand (Just Google "Sand Bending") and some heat. Basically you need to pack some sand into the pipe and then heat and bend. It's a little tricky to get it right though and a lot more work then using a proper bender. But If he's not already aware of that, it may be best he doesn't learn on your vehicle.

Anyway, wherever you go, ask to see some a sample of their bent pipe and see of it's more like the bends in the first pic or the second...particulairly look to see that the Inside Diameter remains the same throughout the bend as in the straight portions if you want best flow properties.

That said, your biggest restriction probably isn't your bends, but rather your catalytic converters (assuming you have them, I just kind of skimmed through the posts)

Later.

That's about as good a visual as you can get on the differance between hydralicaly pressed and mandrel bends short of doing it yourself.
If anyone ever gets the oppritunity to do sand bending, do it so you'll understand why hardly anyone other than the masicistic people will do it twice.

Yup...sand bending is a whole lot more work, and I'd probably just spring for the mandrel bent sections (Which can also be purchased online or at some shops if you figure out how many of what angles you need) But there was a time when a lot of people were doing it that way, and it does get the job done (albeit with a lot more work)

Anyway, it shouldn't be too hard to find a shop that can do a good job at a decent price.

Good luck.

P.S. just to let you know...Flowmasters are one of the best sounding mufflers you can get...but they also rust out the quickest. So if you want one that's going to last a long time, look for something from another company. If you want killer sound and don't mind replacing it every few years, well, Flowmasters sound great!

Used to do a lot of sand bending when I worked in a fab shop in Calgary many years ago. Lots of 2"-6" for de-salination skids with bends anywhere from 10*-180*. Oh the memories! :)

mandrel is the only proper way to go! I sell machines that do this stuff! From the time it takes to do a sandbend ( and hope you get it right) the cost to pay someone to properly do it right the1st time is well worth it!
Magnaflow is the way to go!!

I've got a stainless Magnaflow on my WJ right now too, and I'm happy with it.

I used to be a Flowmaster guy (And still think they sound awesome on any V8) but I got tired of replacing rusted out mufflers...

Well it's definately a day for tinkering inside the shop. -30C wind chill today. Ended up getting stuck in McMurray for the weekend because of the province wide storm that hit everywhere but here for some reason. Oh well, have thing's to prep for, UPS did not deliver my palate on Friday morning as promised. I love paying huge amounts of money for overnight shipping that takes 12 days to get here. (If it arrives tomorrow)
If it's dead at the shop like I think it's going to be it'll be a replace all the fluids, grease the chassis and a tune up day.

Well my delivery has arrived!
In the spirit of the season I have decided to spend some moola on the mistress.
Will have to test fit and then cut out the section for the winch and fairlead then paint it, debating on opening up the holes in the bottom to 2 slots. What do you guy's think?
