Re: True-Track LSD in D30 (TJ) front axle?
And that's what we are talking about, which I'm betting the gear
type limited slip in the front will resist slipping just like a spring
loaded Trac-Loc and cause almost as much of a problem as a spool. Where
a the lunch box locker will totally release the outside turning radius
tire to free wheel around.

I hate to respond to any of Bill's posts that continue to increase in their
level of ignorance on anything not specifically CJ-related but I must
here... the Truetrac operates just like an open carrier does until there is
sufficient rpm differential between the two wheels to engage its LSD
properties. It is not pre-loaded like a clutch-based LSD is, which includes
the Tracloc, so it does not in any way, shape, or form resemble a Tracloc or
spool in its operation. A Tracloc has difficulties on slick surfaces like
icy roads, as do most automatic lockers... but Truetracs do not. My tongue
is so sore from biting it on 90% of his posts I can barely stand it but ....

I bet that guy's problem has more to do with the locker in the rear than
the truetrac in the front. I an running a truetrac in the front of my
Jeep, and my brother has them in both axles of his Jeep; neither of us
have that kind of problem. With the factory tracklock (clutch type) LSD
in the back I can make the rear break loose and drift sideways in the
snow if I try hard enough, but for normal driving even in the snow it
isn't an issue.

You'd be wrong, just like you were about the "center point steering" on a TJ...
