Re: Though Jeep, Libty is 100% girl car
The higher mileage is pretty much the higher compression ratios. With
some of the ultra high compression gas engines in trials, don't expect
gas to go away if the stability issues are solveable.
Of course the high pressure clean diesels raise that bar as well, it
will be interesting to see how many folks discover diesels when the 06
american fuel standards allow them to be imported. Likely driving the
price of diesel fuel even higher.

Sure, they figure everyone will buy a gasoline car, but a diesel, or
especially a propane or whatever one, is only going to sell to a
specific buyer. So their policy is to "sell from stock" and
aggressively deter people from buying the diesel. For the few diehards
that absolutely demand the diesel they will special order, but they
will do all they can to get him to buy the gas one.
Any option that makes the car unwanted by some buyer, is one that will
be shunned. That's why seat belts were so hard to get put in cars until
the government mandated it. At least in the US.
Maybe Europeans had more sense. Dunno.

Individually I may feel sorry for an independent trucker, but if the
truckers hadn't screwed the railroads so royally, neither of the two
might be in as much trouble as they are.
