I'm starting to think my shackle experment was a big mistake......
I'll drive it to work tomorrow and I might think about taking them off
tomorrow night. :(

Leverage is very basic physics. You may understand the theory of a
torque wrench.

Re: Shackles
The pivot point is the shackle.
The arch is designed for so much travel at the pivot point.
Change the length of travel at the pivot and the springs can straighten
out too much which destroys the arch pretty fast.
