Re: Oh, no! Not the bad clutch slave again !
Convert back? Surely you jest! That BA 10/5 appears to be in the
same class as the AX-5 and not even close to being enough machinery
for the I6. My simple test was this: lying on my back with the xfer
casr off, I pulled the BA 10/5 back, lowered it to my chest, then slid
out from under the truck. I could use one hand to carry it. When I
started to install the AX-15, I made one half hearted attempt to lift
it into place then went and got a transmission jack. Whole new class
of machinery.
FWIW, it seems that Toyota also used the AX15 in their half and some
3/4 ton pickups. To use it in a Jeep, it requires and adapter collar
between the tranny and the tc. The guys who rebuilt mine before I got
it tell me that they can't get that adapter collar anymore so upgrades
are getting a lot scarcer (and more expensive). My whole swap -
shipping from Oklahoma to Colorado Springs, tranny, tc input
shaft/gear, bell housing, and the entire clutch assembly was right at
$1400.
