Re: New Commander is UGLY
Yeah - that's about as ridiculous as all these excursions I see running
around with dinky class 1 hitches on them.

Here's some links to what purport to be the actual '07 TK.
http://www.rockcrawler.com/features/...k_spyshots.asp
If this is it, looks like solid axles remain, but it appears to have much a
lower suspension than the TJ.
http://www.rockcrawler.com/features/...k_spyshots.asp
These look to be "Unlimited" and maybe a four door derivative.
Will be fascinating to see how durable this 3.7 v6 proves to be compared to
the trusty old I-6. I seriously doubt we'lll ever see one do the routine
250k of the old engine. Will be lighter, so perhaps there's some hope.
Here's another source, and guess what: Not only a four-door, but looks like
square headlights are back!!!!
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=106599
Here's another link with what's purported to be the TK without the
camoflage.
http://jeep.blogplot.com/
Then here's one from the Colorado 4x4 site, with more detail, although still
in camo.

What's the average city mileage on them anyway?
Right now I'm giving consideration to a Ford Escape Hybrid. Yeah, yeah,
it's no 4x4 by any stretch but at 33mpg city it'd be a hell an improvement
over my XJ. Either that or get SWMBO to buy me a new X5.

Already did that once. About 10 years ago I replaced it's engine,
overhauled the trans and redid the suspension. At this point I'd be faced
with replacing all the rubber bits as they're all just about rotted out.
Window seals, roof racks, bushings, etc. AC's shot too (old style
refrigerant). Repainting it'll be a pain as it's got that good ol' fake
woodgrain stickers (it's a mini Wagoneer). That and a new interior as the
seats have seen better days. Too much work to end up with 30 year old tech.

Errr, I'd have a reconditioned ancient machine. I've owned several coup
deville convertibles over the years and know what owning a classic is like.
This ain't it.
