Chrysler? It was f*cked up from the get-go...by the company that stopped making
the CJ. :-)
At any rate, an AMC 20 never was installed on an XJ Cherokee AFAIK. Unless of
course they made the AMC 20 with a 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern.

With all due respect Bill, the XJ saw improvement under Chrysler... better
engines, transmissions, FI systems, computer, ABS, cooling system. In my
opinion, the early XJ's were a revolutionary platform but were built on
spare
parts... AMC picking through leftovers from an abandoned GM plant.

Hi Brian,
Better engine? It's from an old 1941 Nash Ambassador:
http://members.core.com/~pschilli/41specs.htm they gave it a new valve
cover and called it new for their 1965 Rambler American:
http://www.mederle.de/amc/amcgeng.html Quote: "its 4.0L short block can
still be found in Chrysler's Jeep line, only slightly changed".
