Jeep Cherokee Dana 44 or 35?
Hello,
I am asking this for a friend of mine. he recently purchased an 86
Cherokee
with the Command-Trac system, and needs to be able to tell which rear axle
is
on it.
He was told at autozone that it was either a Dana 44 or a Dana 35 (he said
that Autozone said it was either a 44 or a 38... But, i dont think they
made a 38..
So, i am assuming they said 35 and he misheard..)
Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Dennis

You can tell by the shape.... Dana 35 is pretty much round, but the 44
is shaped a bit like an apple. You can see pics of the diff covers
here for comparison:

Re: Jeep Cherokee Dana 44 or 35?
Most likely a D35 (slight possibility of Chry. 8-1/4, I don't know the
circumstances for this one)
