LOL!
Nope....
I lost my gas tank last year when the cross member rotted and it and the
skid plate fell off on the trail 5 hours from home...
I finally got my tank out of the back seat and back under and it is held
in place by cargo straps with no skid plate.
It drops off out of the way in seconds....

Re: Got CJ7 fixed, anyone want to bush run in Ontario Ca. for a couple days?
A buddy and I met up with Mike Romain in the bush yesterday. He was cooking
up a gourmet storm as usual when we arrived. We did some mild wheeling in
the mild weather, it was nice to get out. It was surprisingly hard to plow
through the shallow snow, but it was very dense, wet snow, almost a slush.
Unfortunately, Mike broke a hub later in the day, and none of us had a
spare.

I complained about a "mild" driveline vibe yesterday that had started
showing up late last week. In my infinite wisdom, I was ignoring it, and put
in three or four hours of highway driving plus the high-rpm low-range snow
bashing yesterday. The last of the picturs shows what my rearmost driveshaft
u-joint looked like by the time I got home. I'm amazed it held together. I
won't be ignoring "mild" vibes any more!

Cool shots. Who's in them? I see the pic on your U-joint. How did the
cups break, and where are your needle bearings? :)

Re: Got CJ7 fixed, anyone want to bush run in Ontario Ca. for a couple days?
The white CJ-7 is Mike's, mine's the TJ, and 5.9 Limited ZJ is Max's.
The caps were already broken like that when I pressed them out, which was
pretty easy to do since the entire drive shaft was only eight months old. I
still can't believe it didn't let go on me.
