Re: Ethanol in Grand Cherokee
You could check your owners manual. Mine states 'not' to use it, but my
Jeeps are old.
One test I use for different fuels is the simple gas mileage and power
test.
If I put ethanol mix at any octane in my 86 CJ7 with my manually tuned
engine, I drop 100 miles distance per tank of gas. So I go from an easy
350 miles on a tank of ESSO 91 octane to being out of gas at 250 miles.
I also lose all top end power. The engine starts to bog big time under
load over 65 mph and it won't idle for ----.
That 'sure' isn't worth the price difference in my case.

Re: Ethanol in Grand Cherokee
if u are referring to the f.f.v e85 engine management system the jeep
does not have that but most times now a 10 % ethanol mix is the norm at
any station

Re: Ethanol in Grand Cherokee
Chris, I use it because of the higher octane rating in a GC 2001 V8.
But it is not cheaper up here in ND. It costs the same as regular.
According the GC owner's manual, its ok to use a 10% blend. I am not
sure if the mileage is any better over regular.

Re: Ethanol in Grand Cherokee
I don't know about that politics stuff those guys were talking about.
I'm just trying to feed six kids and make ends meet. The stuff I am
talking about putting into it says E-85 on the pump. It is $1.94 a
gallon. Reg 87 at BP costs $2.49.
