I'm confused. You're not allowed to have more than 3" of total lift
added to your vehicle? What state do you live in? Is your bumper
higher than 31"? It seems like it would make more sense to have a
maximum bumper height requirement as opposed to a maximum "extra lift"
requirement to me. Maybe I'm just reading this wrong. If your bumper
is just an inch or two too high, could you just let some air out of
the tires to drop the height by an inch or two and go to another
inpsection station? Or borrow some smaller wheels/tires from a buddy
to drop it down to within limits? Or throw a few bags of dirt in the
back to weight it down if they're only measuring the back bumper? ;-)

Do the antonym SOL mean anything to you? I would buy some junk

Re: CJ OEM bumper height?
Time to find a friend with stock tires and rims and swap them for a day
maybe?
I know when I was a kid and had to have a safety inspection ever year
where I lived, there were numerous tire swaps going on come everyone's
birthday. ;-)
Meanwhile, I have the 2.5" lift and 33's and come in under 22", so....

Re: CJ OEM bumper height?
OK... maybe I made the long story too short. WV state regulation for
modified vehicle inspections state:
1) max body lift = 3"
2) max bumper height = 31"
3) No air, hydraulic, or electric lift over 4"
My Jeep is within the law and should be passed (as in previous years).
Nothing has changed in the law... we just have an interpretation problem. I
have now convinced the people at the Capitol of the local inspection station
error... they were just curious as to how I stayed under 31" bumper height
with over 7" lift,
