Re: Air Bags
As long as you bring up politics (I knew it wouldn't be long before you
did), what is it with you right-wing zealots, spinning the facts to fit your
agenda because you have to maintain the illusion that you are never wrong?
"The buck's rear legs were right at the center-mounted license plate, he
wrapped over the hood, glanced off the driver's side of the car taking the
mirror with him. Both airbags deployed. Peak change in velocity was 2.63mph,
but it showed 1.54 at the first data-point. "
Nowhere did the article state the car was going LESS than three miles per
hour. The figure you are citing is the change in velocity (in this case,
deceleration), not vehicle speed. The article doesn't state the vehicle
speed of this car at collision, but anyone with eyes can tell he was going
WAY more than 3mph by looking at the damage.
Have you ever seen a car that hit a deer? At three miles an hour, you
think a deer would wrap over the hood, glance off the driver's side, and
take out the mirror? http://mfes.com/gif/cdr_sunfire_deer.jpg Geez, the deer
can leisurely walk out of the way at that speed. Are you so bad a driver
that if you were driving three miles per hour, you couldn't move to avoid
hitting a deer? Sheesh.

Re: Air Bags
It's still a fact as verified by the little black box like the one
in your Ford. My Brother back in high school had three hundred dollars
worth of damage done by a dog that ran into the front of his '58 Ford.
Their home owner's insurance paid for it.
