Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today

i dont know about that, i think its a dead sensor... the tranny did take a bit of a spill, i guess i broke two sensors on it... (i re-soldered my tranny output sensor and put some epoxy on the broken plastic.) going to have to move it to see if it works or not...

the crank sensor is completely sealed, so im not trying to crack that thing open...

$50 for a new sensor!
I CAN BUY AN ENTIRE AXLE FOR THAT!!! :cheeky4:
sorry dan lol

$35 for the sensor at O Reilly's

tracing it to the PCM now... :alcoholic:

wow... i forgot to plug in the new Crank Position sensor...
that was easy though

So is it running yet?
And yes I saw that...

running like a champ :3gears:

i might talk to the people at the scrap yard about swapping the $50 Dana 30 for a High Pinion... i dont know how they are with exchanges...

what i hate is i really cant tell any difference between my stock and my new crank position sensor... like none what so ever... no way to tell which one is the stock... half a mind to replace it again and see if it starts lol

Finally tossed the stock exhaust for a stainless Magnaflow...a little more oomph and it sounds like a V8 now...

I think this is the longest I've ever had a vehicle before swapping out the stock exhaust...Oh how I've missed the throaty sound of a V8 that can exhale!

:3gears:

Later.

Hi Craig, The Magnaflow's are a nice sounding system. Should be able to shake a few windows out there in Surrey :)

Hey Mike, what was that I said a few posts back...oh yeah, it was going to be something simple. :D
Good thing your doing it yourself I was talking to a mechanic up here today and the shop rate in town is now 200/ hour. The average person is going to have to take out a second mortgage just to get an oil change.
Who know's could have been a bit of dirt stopping it from making contact. I hate troubleshooting electrical.

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today

I haven't read through all the posts...cuz I'm too lazy...but electrical (and sensor) gremlins suck. I've got some right now...every once in a while my turn signals don't work, but they start blinking again if I give the area around the fuse panel a swift kick with my left foot while I'm driving....I'm assuming a loose connection somewhere...but the "kick method" has got me through the last couple of weeks...;)

As for shaking windows in Surrey, I don't know about that (My last truck did with 40 series Flowmasters and way too much stereo, and I'm pretty sure the exhaust on my Camaro wasn't even legal according to our noise laws)...but at least you can tell that the WJ has a V8 under the hood now!

And since it's stainless, I'm guessing that it won't rust out quickly like my Flowmaster mufflers did on other vehicles.

Next I'm trying to decide it a high flow cat is worth the $100...especially since there are a couple of pre-cats before it...and by the time I replace those too, I'm getting into more dollars/benefits ratio then it's probably worth...

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today

Have wondered that myself about the high flow. Seems kind of pointless with the pre-cats in front of it.
When I worked in the Sunlife building (across from the Bayshore, downtown Van) I was driving a CJ7 with a 304 and dual magnaflows. People would be complaining like crazy because I would set off their car alarms whenever I pulled in. Used to have a lot of fun with that. There's nothing like the sound of a V8 in the morning!

Re: What Did You Do To Your GC Today

haha yea of course it had to be something simple, and guess what after a bit of reading, i think my sensor was just fine... problem being the gap between the sensor and the flywheel...

inside the new sensors box there's the installation directions and on it it says not to remove the paper gasket on the base of the new sensor, this is to adjust the gap between the sensor and the fly wheel, and will be removed at first start up...

well i didn't put a paper gasket on my crank sensor, so it could have been too close to the flywheel, or too far since i never readjusted it when i reinstalled the tranny...

i never ran into this issue working on the mustang since its crank sensor is in the front of the engine (which is much easier to replace than lowering your tranny mount and reaching all the way up in there!)

so i glued on a gasket to my stock sensor and im going to put it in today and hope it fires up so i dont have to do twice as much work since its running now...

Labor is cheap down here, had lowering springs put on the front of the mustang AT A STEALERSHIP! and it only cost $185 USD, and they did an alignment aswell.
