Aside from what everyone has said about needing tailpipes, you CAN go to any
decent sized motorcycle shop and get muffler re-packing material. It's used
by motorcyclists all the time.

But how do I fit a tailpipe to it? The headers exit on the outside of
the frame. I'd have to run the tailpipe under the frame and lose GOBS
of ground clearance. There's just no room for tailpipes if I put
attach any kind of mufflers to the headers. See this picture?

This probably wont make as much difference as you want, but a set of
turndowns on the ends of the mufflers will help some, and you won't lose any
ground clearance either.
