Warn 8274 Motor Problems
All Solenoids are functioning properly and distributing power according to
the schematic. http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/8274/ Now my only
conclusion is that there is a problem with the motor. Here is my
question....Is it cheaper for a rebuild or to buy a rebuilt one? Can this
be purchased at a parts store?

Hi Daren,
This is not a motor you'll be able to order via your local parts
store. I'd try one of Warn's eight hundred numbers to see if one of
their current models use the same motor, and of course it's costs,
buttering them up the whole time:

inside the two bolts that hold the motor on should tell the problem, if
it overheated and threw solder from the winding at the armature.

Not sure I'd call that a complete rebuild. But depending on what you
problem is....might work.
looked more of a mechanical overhaul. He didn't do anything with the
motor/electrical.
How does that synthetic rope compare to wire rope?

Is the blown motor why Warn says 'not' to use the synthetic rope?
Isn't that where they say the motor will overheat and die?
It uses the steel rope as a heat sink.
I would say it's time to open it up and see where the solder connection
melted.
