There is a special tool, it looks like a C-clamp.
Meanwhile I just use a 3/4" socket and hammer. Steel hammer eh, not a
hope of a rubber mallet breaking them loose.

Rubber mallet? I needed a BFH to get mine out. Mallets are for sissies.
