Header hits front drive shaft u joint

Header hits front drive shaft u joint
On my '96 XJ I installed a Borla header. I have a 4" lift that makes the
drive shaft up front move towards the motor and drive shaft when I depress
the driver side front wheel. Is there anything I can do to make it move
less or am I doomed to putting a dent in the header to make it clear, hence
voiding my warranty on the header.
Would a long arm lift prevent this. Sorry, I know nothing about those
lifts, just that they are expensive.

Couple of things to try...make sure your track bar is adjusted correctly, you
could even try adjusting it to favor the left slightly. Also, you could extend
your right side bumpstop. You could also try to re-position your exhaust pipes
as well...
Your XJ has a hi-pinion front Dana 30. An expensive and rather questionable fix
would be to install a low-pinion TJ-style axle.
Are you sure the header is correct for your application?

Yes, the header is correct. The lift that was put on back in '96 is a
Trailmaster. They person that installed it drilled a hole to move the track
bar over a bit. It wasn't enough then because when I took the old exhaust
off it has a dent in it from the installer to make room for the u joint
rotation. I learned this after I had everything on. I think I am going to
get an adjustable track bar. I am in need of rear springs and shocks all
around as well. I am wondering if I should just buy a whole lift? I am
going to see what is the cheaper route. I see Rusty has a 4 1/2" lift for
my Jeep that has an adjustable track bar and good rear springs. I guess
I'll call them to see what they say. Any suggestions welcome!
