transmission planning for a CJ7

Re: transmission planning for a CJ7
These charts are kind of funny, this lumps my rock crusher T-10 in
with the lite weights: http://www.----------.com/gearchart.html which
holds down over four hundred horsepower:
http://www.----------.com/thunderb.htm
Remember the Atlas II must sacrifice a lot of it's strength cutting
a couple of gears by a quarter in size to get that ratio:
http://www.explorer4x4.com/atlas_2.html They give us an elusion of size,
but if you take a straight edge and go down the side to adjust for
perspective, you will see the cut angles is just too small to take much
power in low range:

Re: transmission planning for a CJ7
If it was the same cost, then I might go for the heavier one seeing as I
don't use the T5's overdrive anyway.
But then there is 'heavy' and 'heavy duty' too to consider. That T18
has a cast iron case and the T5 has an aluminum case. Does this make
the T just 'lighter' or 'lighter duty'?

don't use the T5's overdrive anyway.
But then there is 'heavy' and 'heavy duty' too to consider. That T18
has a cast iron case and the T5 has an aluminum case. Does this make

Hi Mike. I always thought that the 80s Jeep CJ T5s were of the non-world
class variety. Please tell me I am wrong and that my 86 is a world class
T5 :)
