I've found that I break fewer bolts on disassembly with my impact wrench
that I do with a breaker bar. Of course I must admt that I don't put a 3' long slice of pipe on the impact wrench, either.... Yup, on bolts that get peined up a little like axle U-bolts, I can rattle the nuts off, where a breaker bar usually snaps the bolt and I have to use a torch to cut the other side off. And bolts like the quarter inch U-bolts used on exhaust pipes, I can can shrink the pipes together, where the U-bolt usually breaks before I can clamp it to my specs, even with notches in the outer pipe. I didn't have a breaker bar when I went to install my tow hooks on the front
bumper, so I went to my dads and used his impact gun to get the bolts out. Ended up having to grind the head off one because the impact gun broke the nut loose off the inside of the frame rail where naturally you can't reach it. I still don't have it welded back on. Of course that's the side I don't use when using a strap, until it's properly fixed. Shawn "L.W.
