That's why impact wrenches were invented - to save knuckles, vertibrae
and teeth. Was that the bolt into the tranny or the one on the frame side? The ones into the aluminum are the ones that usually give me fits - the ones that are hell to break loose then come the rest of the way out with your fingers.
