Really? I was a tech at Robert's VW 75-79. It was in an old gas station. We
sold diesel only at the pumps, plenty of Benzes and Peugots around La Jolla
back then. The others I named were the nearest competitors. We probably
pumped about 100-150 gallons per day back then.
You could research it and ask the former owner, Bill Clum, he lives near you
in Temecula

The only open gas station in La Jolla during that time, was a
Chevron on the corner of Torrey Pines Road and La Jolla Shores Drive.

We sold diesel, not gas. The building on the corner of La Jolla Blvd and
Midway St was once a Phillips 66, and it sold gas up to 73 when Robert moved
in. It was in the mid-80s when they moved to Mission Bay Drive and the pumps
were shut down. Place a wager worth my time, and I will get county records
to prove it.
You really shouldn't accuse someone of lying to cover your ignorance. It's
rude, offensive, and makes you look foolish.
