Steering box leak
Can the input shaft seal be replaced without removing to box (my TJ)?
Anyone done this?

Re: Steering box leak
I have done or helped on a few and it is best to just drop the box down
to give you room. It is really easy, the only thing you need to unhook
is the steering shaft.
When you order the new seal, if you can go to a shop that repairs them
you can get the old style adjuster bolt that takes the old seal. It is
the same Saganaw box, but DC cheapened up the seal for a bit of 'planned
obsolescence'. These old style ones will likely last 20 years instead
of 4 or 5....
