The Clear Coat is the same as the paint underneath. I is just clear instead
of colored, and is there to protect the paint from fading, as stated
previously. IT IS SIMPLY CLEAR PAINT. Usually acrallyc enamel., or what
ever the paint is made of. IF it is pealing, its usually bad prep and or a
paint chemical quality issue. Unless there is a huge run of failed paint
jobs by the manufacturer, I'd bet on failed prep. Both ford and chevy had a
bad primer issue in the 80's and their paint peeled to the primer factory
wide. IF its just the clear coat, you don't have to take it to the metal or
primer to fix it. Just a sand and spray will do the job. I'm surprised Mike
didn't tell you that you had a faulty engine ground wire. He prolly figures
this would cause electrollysis which causes the paint to fall off.

Hey Kate,

Sorry for the pain you are going through. I can remember when my Dad
was rebuiilding his hot rod, a car I drove when I was a young buck,
(73 nova), he had it painted and the damn car never cured even after
30 days. He had to take it back and the little bugger had to be
sanded to bare metal. I can remember what my Dad's face looked like
after he had invested thousands upon thousands, thinking his bay was
f'ed.. Luckily the shop made it right. It still looks phenomenal to
this day. You'll be OK, no worries.

BTW, do you still want to the measurements on the warn mount? I had
never heard back and was wondering if you were buying from a vendor or
were doing the whole bumper from scratch. Take care,
