Rear Seal / Oil Pan

Re: Rear Seal / Oil Pan
I'm sure the brass brush worked well to polish it up, but Mike's right, oily
finger prints will ruin all your hard work. I spray the pan, block, and
main cap with brake cleaner and wipe/blow it off really well. Then don't
touch it again. Your RTV will not stick or seal if it's not clean and
dry. If you follow this simple part any one of the gasket types willl work
fine.

Re: Rear Seal / Oil Pan
what do you guys think of
Have you ever used the spray gasket adhesive........ It works wonders
on big gaskets on heat exchangers at work for holding the gasket in
place.

Re: Rear Seal / Oil Pan
what do you guys think of
Have you ever used the spray gasket adhesive........ It works wonders
on big gaskets on heat exchangers at work for holding the gasket in
place.

Inspection plate WAS: Rear Seal / Oil Pan
Which brings me to something I've always wondered: When you take that
inspection plate off, what can you inspect? There's not a lot mechanical,
adjustable or inspectable going on on the forward side of the flywheel.
Me, I'm thinking that is is a fancy way of saying "dust shield", but I
could be wrong.
